Wayne Rooney gave a major slice of the credit for England’s dramatic victory over Argentina to substitute Peter Crouch as he predicted World Cup glory for Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side.

Two late headed goals from Michael Owen, which took his international tally to 35, enabled England to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in Geneva.
