Furious Derry threaten League pull-out

Derry City are threatening to pull out of their penultimate eircom League game in a row with League chiefs over a televised clash with St Patrick’s Athletic.

The game was originally meant to be held on Friday, November 11 but was moved, without the knowledge of Derry, to Monday, November 14 for television purposes.

But Derry refused to play on Monday because of a Greyhound meeting at the Brandywell and also insisted that the League must give 16 days notice before moving a fixture.

The League hit back, claiming that they have the power to move any games under an agreement signed when the television deal was agreed at the beginning of the year, and eventually the League switched the game to Sunday, November 13.

However, Derry are still opposed to the switch and have insisted that the game will go ahead as planned on November 11.
