Delaney still optimistic

Football Association of Ireland chief executive John Delaney has rubbished suggestions any new manager will be working with a squad of players on the decline.

Brian Kerr was yesterday informed his contract would not be renewed after 33 months in charge following the Republic’s failure to qualify for next summer’s World Cup finals.
