Baros doubt for Villa

An Achilles injury has made Milan Baros a doubt for two vital games for club and country this week.

The Czech striker is likely to miss his country’s final World Cup qualifier away to Finland, a match they must win to overtake Romania and claim second place in World Cup qualifying Group One.

That would immediately make him a doubt for Aston Villa’s derby match away to Birmingham on Sunday, having also missed his club’s last game before the international break against Middlesbrough with an Achilles problem.

The Czechs’ squad doctor Petr Krejci said: “Right now, it’s looking more as though he won’t play.”
