Pearce makes case for the defence

Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce has virtually ruled out a January transfer window raid to bolster his defence.

The Blues’ squad has been stretched to breaking point already this season by a succession of injuries, which have forced Pearce to blood promising youngsters such as Stephen Ireland and Lee Croft.
