Pompey chief may quit

Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie has admitted director of football Velimir Zajec is considering his position at the club.

Storrie has denied claims that Zajec has already quit Fratton Park but revealed he has personal problems to address and may decide to return to Greece.

Storrie told The News: “We’ve given him time to think things over and will respect whatever decision he makes. He’s done a good job and we’re waiting for him to come back to us.”

Zajec was controversially appointed by chairman Milan Mandaric last season, a move which reportedly hastened the departure of Harry Redknapp.

He had an unhappy spell in charge of first-team affairs after Redknapp left but reverted to his upstairs role after the arrival of Alain Perrin later in the season.
