Blues hope for Dunn return
Birmingham are hoping midfielder David Dunn can begin his long-awaited comeback in a reserve match next week.
The 25-year-old has been out for nine months after undergoing surgery to cure long-standing hamstring injuries relating to a nerve problem in the back.
Dunn had been pencilled in for a first-team return in the derby cash with Aston Villa on October 16 but the club accept that is now likely to be too soon.
The player has already pulled out of two possible reserve outings but it is hoped he will be able to feature for the second string against Everton on October 11.
If successful there is a possibility that Dunn could make his Barclays Premiership comeback against former club Blackburn on October 22.
Blues boss Steve Bruce insists there has been no setback and said: “There is nothing sinister.
“I know David has been lined up for a couple of reserve games and has been pulled out of them but I can assure everyone there is nothing wrong with him and we fully expect him to be back very soon. His back is fine.”
Birmingham have also confirmed the loan of 20-year-old forward Peter Till to Coca-Cola League One side Scunthorpe.
