Allardyce wants big draw

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce is hoping for a trip to the Stadio Olimpico in tomorrow’s UEFA Cup draw.

Serie A giants Roma are possible opponents for Allardyce’s side, who beat Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the first round, while they could also face Monaco or Stuttgart.

“Many teams in Europe are starting to sit up and take note of what we are doing,” said Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce.

“That might not have been the case a couple of years ago.

“We are now looking for a good draw in the group stages. From the fans’ point of view, I am sure they would like one of the big teams, such as Monaco or Roma. Hopefully we can play one of the big boys at home and fill the Reebok.

“It’s all about enjoying the experience of Europe and seeing how far we can go.”

The teams will be drawn into eight groups of five, with the top three progressing to the next knock-out stage where they will be joined by the eight teams who finished third in their Champions League group.
