Garry Beckett kept Derry’s treble hopes on course to book their place in the last four of the FAI Carlsberg Cup with a second-half winner.

Beckett struck for the only goal of the game on 66 minutes when Killian Brennan’s well-worked corner was put across by Alan Murphy for him to shoot home from close range.

Derry had the best chance of the first half on 26 minutes when Alan Murphy fed ex-Rovers midfielder Pat McCourt whose chip over Barry Murphy held up in the wind before being cleared by Brian Shelley.

Rovers’ boss Roddy Collins was then sent from the dugout just before half-time for arguing with fourth official Paul Deering.
