Kerr 'disappointed' at news of Keane injury, but 'focused' on qualification

Ireland manager, Brian Kerr, today issued a statement in relation to the yesterday's injury to midfielder, Roy Keane.

"I am disappointed to hear the news of the foot injury to Roy Keane. Although we have not received the medical detail as yet from Manchester United as to the extent of the injury, the nature of the reported injury would indicate that he would be unavailable for our World Cup Qualifier with Switzerland on 12th October," he said.

"While one always hopes that an injury is never as serious as first feared, Roy's loss would be a blow for the Swiss match and I know that he would be disappointed to miss the game.

“However we have prepared for the loss of players throughout this campaign. The focus is on winning the next two games" the manager concluded.
