Mowbray: Dnipro will be like Old Firm game

Hibernian manager Tony Mowbray reckons taking on Dnipro in tonight’s UEFA Cup clash at Easter Road will be as daunting as facing Rangers or Celtic.

Hibernian manager Tony Mowbray reckons taking on Dnipro in tonight’s UEFA Cup clash at Easter Road will be as daunting as facing Rangers or Celtic.

However, he believes they have shown enough in defeating both halves of the Old Firm recently to suggest they can see off the Ukrainians.

Dnipro have struggled domestically so far this season, winning only two of their opening eight matches.

But with eight internationals and having topped a group which also included FC Bruges, Real Zaragoza, Austria Vienna and Utrecht in the UEFA Cup last season, Mowbray insists the Scots have it all to do.

Mowbray said: “We go into this tie as pretty big underdogs against a team that achieved a lot last year and have a lot of international footballers.

“At the same time, having seen them live and having seen some tapes of them, I genuinely feel that if the organisation is right on the night, and the preparation is right and everything goes for us, we are more than capable of giving them a good game.”
