Man-of-the-moment Kenny Miller again emerged Scotland’s hero with an opportunistic first-half double in Norway to put them back in the hunt for a World Cup play-off place.

Walter Smith acknowledged his men needed a victory in the Ullevaal Stadium to have any chance of boarding the plane to Germany next summer.

And Miller come up trumps again to take his recent scoring tally to four in three internationals – although he was gifted his second from a bad mistake by Andre Bergdolmo.

The in-form Wolves man then departed injured but he had already taken Scotland to within two points behind second-place Norway with two Group Five games remaining and there was little Ole Martin Arst’s last-minute consolation could do to affect the outcome.
