Rangers bag Bernard

Rangers have signed former Newcastle and Southampton defender Olivier Bernard on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old Frenchman, who was a free agent, replaces Michael Ball, who has joined PSV Eindhoven.

The left-back spent five years at St James’ Park before a short spell at St Mary’s last season.

According to Rangers, Birmingham and Bolton had been keen on signing the player.
