Owen due for Newcastle talks

Newcastle were today awaiting the arrival of Michael Owen as they try to persuade him his future lies on Tyneside.

It is understood that the 25-year-old England striker is due in the north-east today to discuss a possible move to St James’ Park, although with a trip to former club Liverpool planned, chairman Freddy Shepherd and manager Graeme Souness will have their work cut out to convince him his future is with the Magpies.
