Paul McTiernan’s tenth goal of the season dumped St. Pat’s out of the cup as the First Division leaders came from behind to make the quarter-finals in this Showgrounds thriller.

The winner came on 70 minutes when McTiernan sidefooted home from six yards from Ian Rossiter’s cross.

Despite having all the early possession, Sligo fell behind in a classic counterattack on 35 minutes.

Paul Donnelly played Chris Armstrong through and he rounded keeper John O’Hara before blasted home in off the underside of the crossbar.

But Rovers were deservedly level within six minutes.

Faz Kudozovic linked with Kupono Low down the left and the Hawaiian full-back cut past two defenders to fire home off his weaker right foot.
