Goals from Mark Leech and Damien Lynch saw Drogheda safely through to the last eight of the FAI Carlsberg Cup before a crowd of over 4,000 on Dundalk's return to Oriel Park.

Aaron Shanahan made a terrific early save to deprive Drogheda’s Jermaine Sandvliet before Dundalk fell behind on 42 minutes.

Skipper Simon Webb swept over a super ball from the left and Mark Leech showed his pedigree to finish from six yards.

Drogheda killed the game off on 52 minutes when Shanahan took down Declan O’Brien and Damian Lynch shot home the resultant penalty.
