Bolton striker may fill in at left-back
Bolton striker Henrik Pedersen could be forced to deputise at left-back for tomorrow’s Barclays Premiership clash against Newcastle at the Reebok Stadium.
Regular left-back Ricardo Gardner sustained a knee injury in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Everton which also forced him to over-extend his hamstring and is now a doubt, with Pedersen his possible replacement.
Boss Sam Allardyce will resist the temptation of adding Mexico striker Jared Borgetti and Japan midfielder Hidetoshi Nakata to his squad as he insists they are still not ready to play.
Provisional squad: Jaaskelainen, Hunt, Ben Haim, Jaidi, Gardner, Nolan, Campo, Okocha, Speed, Diouf, Davies, Pedersen, Walker, Giannakopolous, Vaz Te, Faye, Kaku.
