Magpies and Red Devils chasing Owen

Real Madrid have revealed Manchester United and Newcastle have expressed an interest in signing England striker Michael Owen.

Club spokesman Antonio Garcia Ferreras told PA Sport that both clubs are keen to bring the player back to England after one season with Real.

“Newcastle are very interested in Owen. They are following him closely and are showing the most concrete interest,” he said.

“However there are other sides showing an interest, including Manchester United.”
