Paul Keegan hit the winner against his former club as Longford somehow snatched all three points to leapfrog Bohs and Drogheda into fourth place.

Keegan struck for the only goal of the game on 70 minutes when scrambling home following a Dessie Baker cross.

That was harsh on injury-ravaged Bohs who dominated the first half with Stephen Ward heading against the bar before the main talking point on 19 minutes.

Town keeper Stephen O’Brien appeared to win the ball cleanly at the feet of Mark Duggan, but referee Paul McKeon gave a penalty and booked O’Brien.

Justice was done, though, as O’Brien saved Kevin Hunt’s spot kick.

O’Brien then excelled himself again with a terrific finger-tip save to push Ward’s shot onto a post on 52 minutes.

Dave Mooney had an effort cleared off the Bohs line on 87 minutes before Davy Byrne headed against his own post at the other end a minute later as Town held on for victory.
