Dyer staying put
Kieron Dyer looks set to commit himself to Newcastle by signing a contract extension at St James’ Park.
The 26-year-old midfielder has a year left on his current deal but his future at the club looked uncertain after his fracas with a team-mate during a match against Aston Villa last season.
However, Dyer’s agent Jonathan Barnett has an agreement in principle with Magpies chairman Freddy Shepherd.
Barnett told the Daily Mirror: “We expect to have the extended deal signed early next week. There have been no problems.
“It’s rubbish to think that Kieron won’t be committing himself. Everything is agreed on the contract and he is very happy to commit his future to Newcastle.
“It has been held up for a few weeks by some legal technicalities but when I sat down with Freddy Shepherd the whole thing was agreed in an hour.”
