McCarthy confirms striker interest

Sunderland manager Mick McCarthy has confirmed his interest in Torpedo Moscow striker Andres Oper and the Estonia international is set to link up with the club for a trial later this week.

McCarthy became aware of the 27-year-old while he was manager of the Republic of Ireland and he has sought a second opinion from Black Cats’ goalkeeping coach Tim Carter, who also helps out with the Estonia national team.
