Barcelona have been given a maximum fine of 4,000 euros by the Spanish football association for the failure to keep fans under control during a match against Real Madrid in November 2002.

The club are likely to be satisfied with the outcome having originally appealed against a two-match closure of the Nou Camp.

The game against Real Madrid had to be suspended after a hail of objects, including bottles, mobile phones, golf balls and a pig’s head, were launched at former player Luis Figo, who became a hate figure in Catalunya after leaving Barca for bitter rivals Madrid in 2000.
