400 Club back Roddy in relegation battle

The Shamrock Rovers 400 Club, who hope to be installed as Shamrock Rovers' new owners next week, have insisted manager Roddy Collins job is safe despite reports linking John Gill with the job.

Gill is expected to be named Athlone Town manager this evening but rumours persist he could be the new Rovers manager if Collins is dismissed by Rovers.

Reports of a disagreement between Collins and the club's potential new owners emerged after Collins claimed the club would be relegated if he could not make any new signings.

However, 400 Club chairman Jonathan Roche has insisted Collins' job is safe. "The 400 Club Trustees have complete faith in Roddy’s ability to guide Rovers to Premier Division safety. If anyone is up to the job, it has to be Roddy Collins."
