Levein slams 'disgraceful' challenge

Leicester manager Craig Levein has labelled Bobo Balde’s tackle which broke teenager James Wesolowski’s leg “disgraceful, disgusting and malicious”.

The former Hearts boss has also asked referee Peter Walton and the Football Association to look at the challenge which badly injured the 17-year-old in Tuesday’s friendly against Celtic.

Levein is also demanding an apology from Celtic and the defensive giant after watching a replay of the incident.

He raged: “It was disgraceful, it was disgusting, it was malicious and it was intentional.

“I spoke to Gordon Strachan after the game and he said he would look at it.

“I will be very disappointed if we do not get an apology from Celtic and from Balde in due course.

“That sort of thing has no place in the game and I will be doing everything I can to get the relevant authorities to have a look at it.

“The tape is going to the FA and the ref also has to look at his role in it.”

Celtic, meanwhile, will face Artmedia Bratislava in the Champions League second qualifying round after the Slovakians came from behind to defeat Kazakhstan’s Kairat Almaty.
