Cole seals City switch

Andy Cole has completed his free transfer switch from Fulham to Manchester City.

Andy Cole has completed his free transfer switch from Fulham to Manchester City.

He passed a medical on Monday and the finalities of the deal were tied up today.

Cole spent just one season at Fulham, scoring 13 goals in 38 games before leaving midway through his two-year contract.

He becomes City’s first signing since Shaun Wright-Phillips left for Chelsea in a £21m deal.

The 33-year-old former England striker may have to win around the City faithful, given that he spent seven years at Manchester United.

He is likely to get his first outing in City colours in Saturday’s third-place match at the FA Premier League Asia Trophy, when Stuart Pearce’s side face Everton.

“Andy has played 100 games in the last three years and was sixth or seventh goal scorer last season when Fulham struggled,” said Pearce.

“He has a top-class pedigree and I know our younger players can learn from him.”
