Goals from Stpehen Paisley and skipper Barry Ferguson put Longford in a commanding position to make the second qualifying round of the UEFA Cup after this all too one-sided clash at Flancare Park.

Apart from an early save by Stephen O’Brien from Mark Doods, Longford completely dominated the match, taking the lead on 35 minutes.

Alan Murphy and Dean Fitzgerald combined down the right for the latter to cross and Paisley scored with a crisply struck side foot volley from 15 yards - his third goal in four matches.

Ferguson added the second goal on 54 minutes, rising well at the back post to head home Alan Kirby’s corner.

The second leg takes place in Newtown on July 28.
