Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas remains determined to fend off Chelsea’s interest in Michael Essien after rejecting an "extraordinary" offer for the midfielder.

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon flew to France last night to meet Aulas in a bid to thrash out a deal for the 22-year-old - but he was again told Essien was not for sale at any price.
