Celtic edge closer to Zurawski deal
Celtic appear to be moving ever closer to completing the signing of Wisla Krakow striker Maciej Zurawski.
Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has jetted to Poland to conclude the transfer of the 28-year-old international and there was encouraging signs coming from the club today.
A Krakow spokesman told the Press Association: âWe believe that the player will be signing for Celtic soon.
âWe are waiting to sit down with the club but we are not too far away agreeing terms with them. I think that business will be concluded early this week and it will only take one meeting to do so.
âMaciej is very happy with this transfer and he prefers to sign for Celtic rather that go to Turkey with Trabzonspor.
âIn Poland, Celtic are seen as a very good team and we have a very good relationship with them and we respect them so I cannot see any problems with this transfer going through.â
Strachan is keen to make his third signing after already landing Jeremie Aliadiere and Mo Camara this summer.
He said: âZurawski wants to come but there are things we have to do to make the deal right for everybody.
âItâs not been thrown into turmoil but thereâs some confusion because the chairman and vice-chairman have left the club so we have to go through the rigmarole again with different people in terms of when the deal is done and when the payments are due.
âWe get on with the lad himself and he is happy with us."
Celtic are also still chasing Craig Bellamy at Newcastle after his successful loan period last season.
