Vieri linked to Spurs after Inter exit
Christian Vieri has been linked with a move to Tottenham after he parted company with Inter Milan a year before his contract was due to expire.
The agreement, announced by the club on www.inter.it, raises speculation that the Italian international could move to England and the media in Italy is already linking the striker with Spurs.
The Bologna-born player spent most of his childhood in Sydney, Australia and thus would have no language problems in the Premiership.
“Inter and Christian Vieri have mutually decided to rescind the contract that was due to expire on June 30, 2006 early,” read the statement.
“FC Internazionale thank Christian Vieri for having contributed for six seasons to the history of the club.”
Vieri, who will turn 32 later this month, arrived at Inter in 1999 from Lazio for what was then a world record fee of around £35m (€51.6m) – an amount that was even criticised by the Vatican at the time.
