Canaries land Thorne

Norwich manager Nigel Worthington has made Cardiff striker Peter Thorne his third summer signing.

The 32-year-old has signed on a free, although the Canaries will have to pay the cash-strapped Bluebirds £200,000 (€295,000) should they secure promotion back to the Barclays Premiership within the next two years.

Midfielder Jason Jarrett, a free-transfer signing from Premiership new-boys Wigan, and French right-back Matthieu Louis-Jean – who joined from League One outfit Nottingham Forest in a swap deal involving Gary Holt – were officially unveiled today.

They were joined at Carrow Road by the experienced Thorne, who scored 14 goals in 31 starts for Cardiff last season.

Worthington told the club’s official website, www.canaries.co.uk: “I am absolutely delighted to get a player of Peter’s experience and quality to add to an already very strong forward line. He will be a valuable asset to us for the challenge ahead.”

Thorne cannot wait to begin his Carrow Road career and said: “I am really excited about the move. It is a great opportunity to come to a club like this.

“I am joining one hell of a squad of players and I have heard nothing but good things about the club from top to bottom.”
