United not interested in Owen, says Fergie's deputy
Manchester United assistant boss Carlos Queiroz has ruled out moves for Real Madrid pair Iker Casillas and Michael Owen.
Queiroz, in an interview with Radio Marca, confirmed he was an admirer of both players but claimed the Old Trafford side would not move to sign either.
“I admire Casillas but he is not in Manchester’s plans. Owen does not interest us either,” said Queiroz, who had an ill-fated stint as Madrid coach in between his two stints with United.
The same applies for Luis Figo, who is set to leave Madrid this summer.
“He is a fantastic player. There is no negotiation but with his quality and professionalism he could be a success in any team,” said Queiroz of his fellow Portuguese.
Meanwhile, Queiroz claimed Real had so far made no offer for United winger Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been strongly linked with the Spanish side in recent weeks.
Queiroz said: “Real Madrid has not contacted Manchester about Cristiano Ronaldo.”
