Reports suggest that Newcastle are leading the race to sign former World Footballer of the Year Luis Figo.

Real Madrid’s Portuguese star is understood to be available on a free transfer five years after heading for the Bernabeu from Barcelona in a then world-record £37m (€55.6m) move.
