Polish striker Zurawski set for Celtic talks

Poland international striker Maciej Zurawski has revealed he wants to join Celtic.

The 28-year-old Wisla Krakow forward is set to travel to Glasgow on Monday with a view to becoming boss Gordon Strachan’s first signing at Parkhead.

Zurawski told The Scottish Daily Mail: “On Monday I hope to be in Glasgow. I will be talking with Gordon Strachan and I hope Celtic will offer me a contract. This is a very exciting possibility for me and I hope we can agree something.”

Strachan has watched the player in action and has also been linked with the striker’s compatriot Artur Boruc, the Legia Warsaw goalkeeper.

Midfielder Neil Lennon appears ready to stay on at Celtic Park for another year.

The 33-year-old will put pen to paper on the deal when he returns from holiday, the club has confirmed.

Strachan was keen to tie up the former Northern Ireland international after losing captain Jackie McNamara.

The skipper – whose armband is now set to be handed to Lennon – joined Wolves claiming the English club had made him feel much more wanted.

Hibernian’s Scotland Under-21 international Steven Whittaker has been suggested as a potential replacement.
