Houllier admits interest in Baros

Former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier has admitted he is interested in signing Czech Republic pair Milan Baros and Tomas Rosicky.

The Lyon manager, who has replaced Paul Le Guen at the helm of the four-times French champions, was in Teplice yesterday to witness the Czech Republic’s 6-1 drubbing of FYR Macedonia, and he confirmed he was there to cast his eye over the striker and the playmaker.

“We are interested in Milan Baros and Tomas Rosicky, who are among the top European players in their positions,” Houllier said to Czech daily Sport.

“I also wanted to say hello to Vladimir Smicer and congratulate him and Milan Baros on their win in the Champions League.”

According to Czech daily Blesk, Houllier left the stand 10 minutes before the end and missed the goal scored by Milan Baros two minutes from time.

Baros has indicated he is unsettled at European champions Liverpool while Borussia Dortmund playmaker Rosicky has long been considered one of the best midfielders in Europe.
