Everton insist they have not dropped out of the race to sign Chelsea’s Scott Parker, but their move to bring team-mate Mikael Forssell to Goodison Park appears shrouded in mystery.

The Merseysiders have refused to comment on claims that Forssell has had complications with his medical, which he undertook on Saturday after breaking off from his international duty with Finland.
