Doyle set for Cork City farewell

Kevin Doyle will play his last match for Cork City in Monday’s league clash with Finn Harps at Turner’s Cross (7.30pm) before his and Shane Long’s move to Reading is finalised early next week.

Reading’s swoop for Doyle and Long will move a stage further to completion when Royals’ boss Steve Coppell returns from holiday on Tuesday.

“Our game with Finn Harps will take precedence on Monday night and if Kevin Doyle is not a Reading or Stoke player by then he will play,”said City boss Damien Richardson.

The Cork pair passed their medicals at the Madejski stadium yesterday in the company of Pat Dolan and formal talks and negotiations on a transfer were opened.

Reading have a pre-season tour to the Swedish town of Boras coming up in mid-July, they play Tottenham at the end of July and the Cork lads are expected to be involved.

Former Douglas Hall youngster Kevin Mulcahy (19) who was released by Aston Villa recently played with Cork City in a challenge game this week.

* Defender Mulcahy will train with Cork again next week.

* Cork City have agreed a settlement with ex-manager Pat Dolan.
