All to play for in Shels v Linfield tonight

Shelbourne and Linfield will go in looking for victory that will earn their club €150,000, the Setanta Cup and local bragging rights when they contest the Setanta Cup final at Tolka Park tonight.

The 2004 eircom League Champions take on the 2004 Irish League Champions in a game that both sides are claiming will decide “unofficially” who the best team in Ireland is this year.

Linfield surrendered their title to Glentoran this season though, in the Setanta Cup, they got the results when they mattered most winning their final two games against Longford Town and the Glens.

Shelbourne too recovered from an iffy start to claim a final place at Cork City’s expense and are slight favourites to claim the trophy and the €150,000 prize money.

Linfield are at full strength for the clash while Shelbourne will be without influential captain Owen Heary who is suspended. Ireland Under 21 right back Stephen Brennan could come in for his debut though Fenlon could opt to move stand-in skipper Stuart Byrne into defence.
