Hammers held by Ipswich fightback

West Ham 2 Ipswich 2

Ipswich fought back from two goals down at West Ham today to earn a draw that gives them the upper hand in Wednesday’s play-off semi-final second leg.

Marlon Harewood and Bobby Zamora put the home side in command early on against a toothless Ipswich side, but goalkeeper James Walker’s unfortunate own-goal just before the break gave the visitors a route back into the match.

And their much-improved second-half showing was rewarded when Shefki Kuqi equalised in the 74th minute.

A mix-up between Walker and West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand allowed Kuqi to pounce for the equaliser.
