FAI give Rovers two days to reply

Shamrock Rovers have been given until Wednesday to reply to questions posed by the FAI over their application for a FAI Club Licence this season.

Rovers were awarded a Premier Division Licence but later discovered that they had submitted accounts for 2003 rather than 2004.

They informed the FAI and have been asked to respond to a number of questions posed in a letter than was sent to the club on Friday afternoon.

Details of the letter emerged on Monday afternoon during the High Court hearing during which interim Examiner Neil Hughes was appointed as Examiner for the next 70 days.

In the letter, the FAI stated it had “serious reservations about the accuracy and validity of the accounts on foot of the information.”

Under FAI Club Licence guidelines, the Association can revoke the club’s Licence and, if it chooses to do so, remove the club from the League as the club is in Examinership.

The FAI were unwilling to comment any further though Shamrock Rovers chairman Tony Maguire insisted that none of the problems were insurmountable and he hoped to meet the FAI shortly.
