Beattie to return to training
James Beattie is expected to return to training next week following the knee ligament damage he sustained in training a fortnight ago.
The Everton striker was expected to be out for month, but is ahead of schedule and his return will be a major boost to the Toffees’ bid for Champions League qualification.
But Beattie is unlikely to be involved in Everton’s next match at home to Manchester United on Wednesday.
Everton physio Mick Rathbone says: “Beattie will be stepping up his rehabilitation over the weekend. We are hoping he will be ready to do some training next week, although he remains a doubt for the Wednesday game.”
Alessandro Pistone is making progress following a hamstring injury but will be with for at least another week.
