Alain Perrin is set to become Portsmouth’s new manager tomorrow, with Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric admitting the Frenchman is his “number one candidate”.

Alain Perrin is set to become Portsmouth’s new manager tomorrow, with Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric admitting the Frenchman is his “number one candidate”.

The 48-year-old former Marseille boss could be assisted by former Tottenham manager and director of football David Pleat on a short-term basis.

Mandaric told Sky Sports News: “We have our number one candidate and that is Alain Perrin from France. Also David Pleat would come for seven games to help him out on all the issues of English football.”
