Farrelly: We can't cope with injuries

Bohemians’ player-manager Gareth Farrelly has admitted that his squad is not big enough to cope with injuries and they will struggle to match the likes of Shelbourne if they suffer long-term injuries.

With Farrelly himself, Thomas Heary, Tony Grant and Dominic Foley all missing for last week’s 1-0 defeat by Derry City, the Gypsies were forced to field to field Stephen Ward (20), Mark O’Brien (20), David Bracken (19) and John Paul Kelly (18).

And Farrelly admits that blooding younger players at such a time means that results could suffer. “They are good players and they will prove it but it’s not ideal to be putting so many of them in at the same time.

“There’s a lot of pressure on them and I would prefer to be putting them in one at a time but we don’t have a choice at the moment.”
