Sven-Goran Eriksson piled the pressure back onto the Football Association and Premier League power-brokers as he insisted he had an unbreakable guarantee of a four-week break before the World Cup.

The England boss, who has lost Andrew Johnson to injury for Saturday’s qualifier against Northern Ireland, maintained that enough preparation time with his players would be “gold” before next year’s finals.
