Newcastle draw Sporting Lisbon

Newcastle face a potential reunion with Hugo Viana after drawing Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Cup quarter-finals.

The Magpies allowed the Portuguese midfielder to return to his former club on a season-long loan last summer.

The 22-year-old has been a key performer for Sporting this season and featured in the side that accounted for Middlesbrough in the round of 16 last night.

Newcastle secured their place in the quarter-finals with a crushing 7-1 aggregate win over Olympiacos this week.

Elsewhere in the draw Steaua Bucharest or Villarreal will play AZ Alkmaar, CSKA Moscow will take on Auxerre and Austria Vienna face Parma.

First legs to be played on April 7, second leg on April 14.
