Paul Dickov fired Blackburn into the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1960 at the expense of former club Leicester.

Dickov has proven a bargain buy for Rovers this season, costing just £150,000 following a summer move from the Foxes, where he scored 37 goals in 97 appearances over two and a half years.

And it was the 33-year-old who was on hand to send Rovers into tomorrow’s last-four draw by driving home an 82nd-minute penalty of a dour sixth-round clash at Ewood Park.

With 15 minutes remaining Rovers should have been in the hat for tomorrow’s semi-final draw, but after feeding Emerton on the right and continuing his run deep into the area, Lucas Neill fluffed a close-range sidefoot shot that Walker gathered under pressure.

Then, nine minutes from time, came the deciding moment of the game when Pedersen was brought down inside the area by Darren Kenton, although Barry took an age before pointing to the spot.

But once the furore surrounding the spot-kick had subsided, up stepped Dickov to drive home the winner for his 10th goal of the season – and a goal which put Blackburn into the last four.
