Maloney missing for Bhoys
Shaun Maloney will miss the Bank of Scotland Premier League match with Dundee but Martin O'Neill has eased fears the striker is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The 22-year-old‘s first-team comeback – he snapped his cruciate ligament on February 22 last year – in the Tennent‘s Scottish Cup victory at Clyde ended with some concern as he needed a scan after turning his ankle.
But the Celtic manager, who hopes Chris Sutton and Stephane Henchoz will recover from twisted ankles to face Dundee, revealed the Scotland Under-21 international would be sidelined for no more than a fortnight.
“Shaun is going to be out for a week or two,” said O‘Neill.
“At this minute it is touch and go with Chris and Stephane.
“They didn‘t train this morning so we will see how they are. We will give them until the last possible minute.”
O‘Neill will have striker John Hartson back in contention after missing the weekend win through suspension.
Long-term absentees Didier Agathe, Joos Valgaeren, John Kennedy and Stephen Pearson are still recovering.
Provisional squad: Douglas, Henchoz, McNamara, Balde, Varga, Laursen, Petrov, McGeady, Thompson, Juninho, Sutton, Hartson, Marshall, Lambert, Hartson, Wallace, Lennon, Bellamy, Fernandez, McManus, Lawson.
