Awards treble for Chelsea

Chelsea have made a clean sweep of the Barclays Premiership awards for January, with the efforts of Jose Mourinho, John Terry and Petr Cech all recognised by the league’s sponsor.

Mourinho collects the Manager of the Month award after the Blues reeled off four straight wins.

The Month award while Cech received a special Merit Award for keeping a record 10 Premiership clean sheets in a row.

Nic Gault, from the Barclays Awards Panel, said: “Chelsea have had a blistering start to 2005, with Jose Mourinho’s tactical sharpness, John Terry’s inspirational presence and the record-breaking Petr Cech.

"They now look favourites to scoop the Barclays Premiership – their first domestic league honour for nearly 50 years.”
