Ronaldo a doubt

Cristiano Ronaldo is a major doubt for Sunday’s Manchester derby after picking up a calf injury on international duty with Portugal on Wednesday.

The young winger was injured in a tackle by Chelsea’s Damien Duff and appears unlikely to face the Blues at Eastlands.

Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs (both hamstring) are fit after missing a midweek international date with England and Wales respectively, while Alan Smith and Ruud van Nistelrooy will both return to training next week and should be available to face AC Milan on February 23. Mikael Silvestre is still serving a three-match ban.
