Villa close in on Djemba-Djemba

Eric Djemba-Djemba’s ill-fated 18 months at Manchester United appears to be drawing to a close.

Although Old Trafford officials have refused to confirm they have accepted a bid from Aston Villa for the Cameroon international, Alex Ferguson has previously stated he would listen to any genuine offer and provided the price is right, and Djemba-Djemba is expected to have a medical with the midlands outfit later today.

Lauded as the future replacement for skipper Roy Keane, Djemba-Djemba has failed to win over the Red Devils support and was part of the side which was humiliated by Exeter at Old Trafford earlier this month.

The 24-year-old did play in the replay win 10 days later but that will probably prove to be the last of his 39 appearances following his £3.5m (€5m) move from Nantes.
