City confirm Kiki deal
Manchester City today confirmed they have agreed in principle to the loan signing of Dutch midfielder Kiki Musampa from Atletico Madrid.
As revealed by the Press Association last night, City have agreed a deal to take the left winger on loan for the rest of the season, with the option of turning the transfer into a permanent move should the 27-year-old impress during the remainder of the campaign.
Musampa, who was due at the club’s Carrington training ground to undergo a medical this morning, is expected to join his new team-mates for training on Thursday and could come into contention for City’s next Barclays Premiership clash against Newcastle on February 2.
By then, record signing Nicolas Anelka’s move to Fenerbahce seems increasingly likely to have been completed.
Blues officials have confirmed discussions with their Turkish counterparts are on-going and providing the Istanbul club meet City’s asking price, believed to be around the £7m (€10m) mark, Anelka will be allowed to end his mixed two-and-a-half year stint with the Eastlands outfit.
